While staying in Albufeira, we decided to try Kebab Albufeira (Halal). After several days of Portuguese food, we were looking for something quick, filling and different.

The experience was mixed.

We ordered both pizzas and kebabs. The pizzas were probably the weakest part of the meal. They were acceptable but nothing more, and the spicy seasoning was much stronger than we expected. Instead of adding flavour, it tended to dominate the pizza, making it less enjoyable than we had hoped.

The kebab was a completely different story.

It was generously filled, freshly prepared and full of flavour without becoming greasy. The meat was tender, the vegetables fresh and the sauces well balanced. It was easily one of the best kebabs we had during our journey through Portugal and Spain, and if we returned, we would order the kebab again without hesitation.

The restaurant also benefits from a convenient location in the centre of Albufeira, making it an easy place to stop after exploring the old town or the nearby beaches. Prices were reasonable and the service was quick despite the constant flow of customers.

One interesting curiosity concerns the word halal. Although many people associate it simply with meat, halal refers to the entire preparation process, from sourcing and slaughter to food handling. As a result, halal restaurants have become increasingly popular not only with Muslim travellers but also with customers looking for clearly defined food standards.

For us, this was a restaurant with a clear recommendation: go for the kebab, not the pizza. The pizzas did not convince us, mainly because of the unexpectedly spicy flavour, but the kebab more than made up for it and became one of the standout fast-food meals of the trip.
