After a full day exploring Seville, we wanted something familiar rather than traditional Andalusian cuisine. That led us to Il Ristorantino Dell’Avvocato, tucked away in Calle Cuna, only a short walk from the city’s main monuments.
It turned out to be one of the best meals of our journey.
The pizzas were outstanding. The dough was light, well fermented and baked exactly as a proper Neapolitan pizza should be, with a soft centre and an airy crust. The ingredients tasted fresh and balanced, without trying to overload the pizza with toppings. After several weeks on the road, it was one of those meals that immediately reminded us of Italy.
Another reason we appreciated the restaurant was that our dog was welcome. Finding genuinely dog-friendly restaurants in busy historic centres is not always easy, so being able to enjoy dinner together without any problems made the evening even more enjoyable.
The atmosphere also stood out. Several members of the staff were Italian, and their friendliness immediately made us feel at home. Service was relaxed, welcoming and efficient without ever feeling rushed, despite the restaurant being busy. It was clear that this was not simply an Italian-themed restaurant, but a place run by people who genuinely cared about the food and the experience.
One interesting curiosity is that Naples’ traditional pizza-making technique, known as the Art of the Neapolitan Pizzaiuolo, was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017. The recognition is not for pizza itself, but for the centuries-old skills involved in preparing, stretching and baking the dough.
Another little-known fact is that Seville has developed a surprisingly strong Italian food scene over the last decade. While tapas remain the city’s culinary symbol, several authentic Italian restaurants run by Italian families have earned excellent reputations among both locals and visitors.
For us, Il Ristorantino Dell’Avvocato became much more than a place to eat. Excellent pizzas, genuinely welcoming Italian staff and the possibility of bringing our dog made it one of the restaurants we would happily return to on a future visit to Seville.
