Last weekend, we decided to explore the food court at THE PLACE TO BE, a vibrant spot known for its diverse culinary offerings. Among the stalls, we stumbled upon Face à la mer, a small restaurant specializing in pizza—though not the Neapolitan kind. Intrigued, we ordered a two of pizzas, eager to see what this place had to offer. Overall, the pizzas were fine. The crust was crispy, the toppings where fine, and the flavors balanced. However, our Margherita pizza came with a surprise. Traditionally, a Margherita is a celebration of simplicity: tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of olive oil. Its origins trace back to 1889, when pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito created it in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy, using ingredients that mirrored the colors of the Italian flag—red, white, and green. But at Face à la mer, the Margherita arrived topped not only with tomato sauce and mozzarella but also with emmental cheese and bleak olives. Despite the pizza surprise, the staff at Face à la mer were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The food court itself is lively, with plenty of options for everyone, and Face à la mer stands out for pizza.
