Castillo de Sant Jordi d’Alfama is a historic fortress located on a hilltop near the coast of Tarragona. The castle dates back several centuries and has played an important role in the region’s history, serving as a defensive point overlooking the surrounding landscape and the Mediterranean Sea. Its stone walls and elevated position give a clear view of the nearby coastline, making it an interesting landmark to explore even from the outside. We spent a few days nearby with our motorhome, taking advantage of the area’s accessibility. The location is very motorhome-friendly, with enough space to park comfortably and safely. During our stay, there were many other campers parked nearby, which made the area feel secure and lively without being crowded. The convenience of parking meant we could enjoy the surroundings at our own pace. We often walked around the area, appreciating the view of the castle from different angles and taking in the Mediterranean landscape. The historic character of the fortress, combined with the calm of the parking area, made this a relaxed stopover compared to busier towns we had visited. Staying in this area allowed us to enjoy several days in a single spot, without needing to move frequently. The combination of easy motorhome access, a safe environment, and the presence of other travelers made it an ideal base to enjoy the castle and its surroundings.
