After catching a late ferry from Denmark, we needed a simple overnight stop, and Mölln, the “Eulenspiegel Town,” served its purpose well. While we didn’t find the city to be bursting with sights, it’s a perfectly fine, quiet German town. It’s famous for the medieval jester Till Eulenspiegel, and you can certainly see his statue in the historic market square. The town center itself, with its old buildings, including the historic Town Hall and St. Nicolai’s Church, is neat and makes for a pleasant, if brief, walk. For a bit of nature, we visited the nearby Naturparkzentrum Uhlenkolk, which includes the Wildpark. Honestly, it wasn’t the prettiest wildlife park we’ve ever been to—it feels more like a nature experience center—but it was fine for a short stroll to stretch our legs and see a few native animal species like deer and wild boar. The real highlight for us was the excellent and affordable motorhome accommodation. We parked overnight at the dedicated Wohnmobilstellplatz Mölln for just € 7.00. This price included electricity and provided a quiet, convenient spot close to the town center. It was the ideal, practical, and budget-friendly start to our German leg of the trip. Mölln might not be a major destination, but for anyone needing a solid stopover with good motorhome facilities after crossing from Denmark, it’s a reliable choice.
