Olot is a town in the province of Girona, located in the volcanic region of Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. The area is well known for its unique landscape, with several extinct volcanoes, forested hills, and walking trails that attract visitors interested in nature and geology. While traveling through the region with our motorhome, we stopped in Olot hoping to spend some time exploring the town. However, during our visit we had difficulty finding suitable parking for the motorhome. Most available spaces were either full or not large enough for our vehicle. Because of the limited parking options, we decided not to stay overnight and continued our journey to the next destination. Even though our stop was short, it was clear that Olot is located in a very interesting part of Catalonia, especially because of the surrounding volcanic landscape. The town itself is known for its historic center, local markets, and its position within the Garrotxa volcanic area. Many visitors come to explore the nearby volcanoes and natural parks, which are considered some of the most distinctive landscapes in this part of Spain. Although we did not manage to stay in Olot this time, passing through the area gave us a glimpse of the region’s volcanic scenery. For travelers visiting the Garrotxa region, Olot is often used as a base for exploring the nearby natural parks and countryside.
