Ripoll – A Practical Stop in the Catalan Pyrenees

Ripoll is a historic town located in the province of Girona, at the foothills of the Pyrenees. The town lies at the meeting point of several mountain valleys and has long been an important center of culture and history in the region. Traveling through Catalonia with our motorhome, we stopped in Ripoll and stayed in both of the motorhome areas available in the town. Having two dedicated areas makes it a convenient place for camper travelers passing through the region. During our stop we used the service area closer to the city center to refill our fresh water. Its location makes it easy to combine practical motorhome services with a short walk into the town. Ripoll is especially known for Santa Maria de Ripoll, a historic monastery founded in the 9th century. The monastery played an important role in medieval Catalonia and is one of the main landmarks in the town. The building, with its Romanesque architecture and detailed stone portal, reflects the long history of the area. Our stop in Ripoll worked well as a practical break during the journey. With more than one motorhome area and useful services such as water refill, the town is a convenient place for travelers crossing the Pyrenees or exploring northern Catalonia by camper.
