We stopped at the parking area beside the La Peülla chairlift station in the Catalan Pyrenees. The main drawback was the slope: much of the car park is quite uneven, so finding a level place can be difficult. However, we managed to find a suitable spot for our 23-foot-long motorhome. There were already many other motorhomes parked there, but plenty of space remained available.
The views of the surrounding mountains were very good, and the area was quiet and peaceful. The nearby road was not particularly busy, so traffic noise was not a problem during our visit. The parking area itself was somewhat run down, and the markings on the ground were not very clear, which made the layout less convenient than it could have been.
This is a simple parking area rather than a fully equipped motorhome stop. There are no dedicated motorhome services, but the main advantage is the amount of space and the location in the mountains. The sloping ground is the most important point to consider, especially if you need a level pitch.
La Peülla is part of the Baqueira-Beret ski resort, in the municipality of Alt Àneu. It lies along the C-28 road leading towards the Port de la Bonaigua, a mountain pass at approximately 2,076 metres that connects the Pallars Sobirà region with the Val d’Aran. The surrounding landscape consists of high mountain slopes, open pastures and forests, with significant changes between the summer and winter seasons.
During winter, this area is used for skiing, with lifts and pistes forming part of the Bonaigua sector of Baqueira-Beret. In the warmer months, it provides access to the high Pyrenees and the walking routes in the surrounding valleys. The nearby Port de la Bonaigua is also a good point from which to appreciate the mountain scenery on both sides of the pass.
For us, this was a peaceful place to stop, with attractive views and enough room even when several other motorhomes were present. The uneven ground and unclear parking markings were the main disadvantages, but we were able to find a level spot without difficulty.
